This deck explores the biggest barriers to hockey, including the cost of youth hockey, limited access, representation, and cultural challenges that can impact youth hockey participation. Through research on hockey accessibility, diversity in hockey, and hockey inclusion, I examine why access and not lack of interest can prevent kids from playing, while highlighting practical ways communities can make youth hockey more accessible and inclusive.

• Hacksaw Hockey Club — Hacksaw has collaborated with organizations such as You Can Play, directing proceeds toward LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports, and Pucks for Autism, supporting autism acceptance and inclusion.

• Black Girl Hockey Club — BGHC works to make hockey more inclusive for Black women, girls, families, thorugh initiative focuses on anti-racism, education, recruiting BIPOC talent, and creating more welcoming hockey environments.

• Hockey Diversity Alliance (HDA) — Founded by current and former professional players, the HDA focuses on combating racism and increasing hockey access for underserved communities
